We are currently looking to hire linguists fluent in English and Spanish to assist federal law enforcement agents with their investigations into narco-trafficking, human trafficking, counterfeiting, terrorism, fraud and money laundering.
Our linguists are hired as employees, not subcontractors, and we take pride in offering a stable work environment, competitive compensation and a weekly payroll. Linguist positions with Metropolitan/Metlang offer excellent benefits:

• Competitive hourly pay rate
• Medical Insurance
• 401(K) plan

Metropolitan/Metlang is currently recruiting Spanish linguists in the regions for which we have exclusive jurisdiction (see below). Any other company recruiting for or promising linguistic work with the DEA in these regions is most likely preparing to compete for these contracts when they are rebid and you should exercise caution when replying to their advertisements.
In order to work as a linguist under these contracts, you must be a native or near-native speaker of the foreign language. Your skills will be certified by an approved testing company of the Inter-Agency Language Roundtable, unless you meet certain standards of proficiency that can be verified (court interpreter, DLPT, etc.) You must also have a college degree in languages and/or some hands on experience with translation and/or interpretation.
Additional requirements include:
• An excellent command of the English language, with the ability to provide clear and concise oral and written communication.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, hectic environment and to meet specific deadlines.
• Able to type 40 wpm.
Exceptions to these requirements can be made for rare and exotic languages such as African, Latin American and Asian tribal languages.
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements. All positions require vetting by the U.S. government and Metropolitan/Metlang is willing to sponsor your clearance for this position provided you meet the qualifications for access and have the required language skills. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain the security clearance needed for this position.
Part of the application process includes questions specifically designed to determine your ability to qualify for a government security clearance, a key requirement for all of the positions we offer. Complete and truthful answers to these questions are crucial to your acceptance as a potential candidate. Please bear in mind that a seemingly adverse response to a question may not necessarily be a disqualifying factor, but an untruthful answer would be. The answers you provide on this questionnaire will be used as a comparison for every security document you complete in conjunction with your security access.
All applications will be handled with complete discretion.
